Surprise!: Jesse Leach Back in Killswitch!

Well, it's official. On February 6, news broke on Killswitch Engage's webpage, as well on their Facebook page that they are indeed heading "Back to the Future" in hiring former lead singer Jesse Leach to front the band once more.

After highly popular lead singer Howard Jones left Killswitch Engage after Leach's departure 9 years ago left in early January due to a slew of issues, the door opened back up for Leach after keeping a good relationship with his former bandmates. Jones came clean about his issues a few weeks back, citing issues with diabetes, among other things and stated that he was still on good terms with the other guys in Killswitch.

As soon as Jones left the band, fans were salivating at the chance for Leach to return to the band. There were some fans worried that Leach may fall into his personal demons which lead him to his 2002 exit after the release of "Alive or Just Breathing", but Leach has bounced back gloriously in the past several years. Leach even has worked with Adam Dutkiewicz in their Times of Grace project last year.

But let's be honest: this was the only graceful way to transition from one period of the band to the next. For a band of their size to call it a day would have been a complete waste; and getting a new lead singer would just confuse things and add a whole lot of unneeded pressure for the band's next album. With Leach back in the band, old school fans are pleased and new school fans at least have an idea of what to expect.

So, in conclusion: kudos to the guys in Killswitch Engage. By looking to your past and sticking with your friends, the KsE train will keep rolling and could spark some new life into the band.
