"Outbreak" At St. Andrew's

No, no, it’s not in reference to the overly cheesy virus movie in the 90’s- but Monster Energy Drink has their hands in yet another big package tour of young up and comers. This time around, the “Monster Energy Outbreak” tour features some of the heaviest and adventurous band in the current hardcore and metal scene.

Headlining things on this tour are Oklahoma based avant garde metal band I Wrestled a Bear Once. If you’ve ever heard the band’s music, it fails around several different genres and is never, ever predictable. It could be a banjo solo one minute, pig squeals and piano the next. Lead singer Krysta Cameron’s highly versatile voice helps keep things interesting on the band’s sophomore album, “Ruining It For Everybody”. After initially telling people that the band was switching to a European style black metal sound, and saw as fans flipped, the material on “Ruining” is what the band’s fans were looking for and steering clear of any northern European metal influence.

Also on the bill is California based metalcore band Of Mice and Men, whose new album “The Flood”, debuted inside the Billboard Top 30 albums a little while back. But for Detroiters, one of the more popular metalcore bands from the area, I See Stars, is also on the bill. Everytime these guys play a hometown show, it tends to get a little rowdy and it should be packed when these guys are on.

The “Monster Energy Outbreak” tour is moving into it’s final week right now, as the tour ends in Pittsburgh on November 29th. But before the bands go their separate ways, the “Outbreak” show hits Detroit when the bands hit St. Andrew’s Hall on Saturday, November 26th for an evening of raging out and hearing a plethora of metal sounds.

The “Monster Energy Outbreak” Tour plays at St. Andrew’s Hall on Saturday, November 26. Tickets are $16 and are available at www.livenation.com. Additional tour dates and band info can be found at www.facebook.com/ofmice, www.iwrestledabearonce.com, or www.myspace.com/iseestars.
