December Hard Rock/Metal Calendar

Guns n Roses- December 1st- The Palace: Does anyone want to take a guess on what time Axl Rose shows up at the Palace, if he does at all? I mean, he made “That Metal Show” wait 7 hours to do that most recent interview, so who knows what awaits Detroit? (Tickets range between $49-$89, available at palacenet.com).

Sevendust- December 2nd- Harpo’s: Sevendust are near wrapped up their 2011 touring with a show at Harpo’s. Always a good mix of heavy and melodic jams. Also at the Machine Shop the following night (December 3rd). (Tickets are $17, available at ticketmaster.com).

Kyuss Lives- December 3rd- The Crofoot Ballroom: Making an uproarious return to the Detroit area, the guys from the Californian desert bring their proto-stoner metal sound and show the new bands that ripped them off a thing or two. The Sword and Black Cobra open up the show. (Tickets are $25, available at ticketweb.com).

Five Finger Death Punch- December 16th- Compuware Arena: Here comes FFDP’s big test. The band’s new album debuted at #3 in October, and this is the first test to see if the band can pack an arena, even if it’s an arena that holds 5,000 people. Having Hatebreed and All That Remains should help the band as fans should prepare for a night of chest pumping and fists flying in the pit. (Tickets are $25, available at compuwarearena.com)

The Devil Wears Prada- December 17th- Royal Oak Theater- The band from Dayton wraps up a big year as they celebrate the Top 10 release “Dead Throne”, which may just be the heaviest of the band’s career. Whitechapel and Enter Shikari brings some diversity to the bill. (Tickets are $20, available at tickets.com).

Pop Evil- December 17th- Emerald Theater- The guys from Grand Rapids get closer to home as they play a big show at the Emerald Theater. 2011 was a good year for the band as their latest album, “War of Angels”, finally got the band the exposure they’ve been looking for. (Tickets are $10, available at ticketmaster.com).
